Porto Cervo, Sardinia. IT
Porto Cervo is the main centre of the so-called Costa Smeralda, one of the most prestigious tourist areas in Gallura on Sardinia's north-western coast. Porto Cervo is a village of multicoloured buildings, recently built in front of the natural port and the surrounding hills. Its yacht basin is one of the best, most expensive and most scenic in the Western world.
Porto Cervo's promenade and tiny squares are lined with prestigious designer shops and art galleries. The little church of Stella Maris, dedicated to the Madonna, stands on the hillside overlooking Porto Cervo. The chapel features a famous painting by El Greco and is also noted for its bronze doors by the well-known artist, Luciano Minguzzi.
