Ponza, Italy
Ponza is the largest of the Pontine Islands, a pretty archipelago off the Italian coast south of Rome. It is a crescent shaped island which is popular with water-lovers. The island's main appeal is its landscape, shoreline and atmosphere.
The island is famed for its Blue Grottos, which were created by the Etruscans. It has the Serpents Grotto and the Roman Gallery, which is a Roman tunnel that connects the town of Ponza to one large beach called Spiaggia di Chiaia di Luna (Half Moon Beach), on its west side. It is ideal for bathing and enjoying the sunshine towards the other end of the island, near Le Forna.
