Itea, Greece
Itea is a Greek town located in the southeastern part of the prefecture of Phokida. It extends together with the neighbouring Kirra, along the coastline of the Crissaean plain. Itea is a relatively new city, founded in 1830.
Itea's street planning is perfect, there are squares and alleys full of trees and visitors can enjoy a walk on the dock and the beautiful green hill of Agioi Anargiri. There are beaches on both sides of Itea; "Trokantero" and "Maiami" beaches were awarded a "Blue Flag" by the EU for their exceptionally clean waters. There are hotels, taverns, cafes, bars and a square (plateia) which is located north and there is a medieval castle at its port in the central area.
The area around Itea is situated in a plain filled with farms and groves which connects up to the north near Amfissa. The mountains mainly filled with rocks and bushes lie to the east and west. On clear days, the Peloponnese can be seen. Other views include Galaxidi, central and northern Phocis mountains including parts of the Parnassus and the Gkiona.
