Highlights of this cruise:

Cape Town
Whatever time of day you arrive in Cape Town on your luxury MSC cruise liner , whether early morning or late evening, passengers are always amazed by the majestic skyline of this South African city and the dramatic Table Mountain that rises above the city's pretty harbour.

Although one of the busiest ports in South Africa, this is a stunning holiday destination; explorer Sir Francis Drake described it as "...the fairest Cape we saw in the whole circumference of the earth," when he sailed into Table Bay in 1580.

Walvis Bay
Situated off the Atlantic coast of Africa, Walvis Bay is the name of both this popular holiday town in Namibia and the bay in which it lies.

The deepwater harbour is a haven for sea vessels and many luxury cruise liners dock here. However, these deep waters are also rich in plankton and marine life and previously drew large numbers of whales, which contributed to the port's name.

The Dutch - who colonized the area in the 17th century - referred to it as Walvisch Baye, the English as Whale Bay, with an eventual agreement on Walvis Bay, via Walfish Bay! Today, Walvis Bay, with its large bay and sand dunes, is the tourist activity centre of Namibia.

A particular attraction of the area is the huge natural lagoon with its abundance of seabirds, including rare flamingos and pelicans, which are joined every year by 200,000 migratory birds. As this is an area of outstanding natural beauty, there are many options for spending your time away from ship.

Malaga
Nestling between the mountains and the sea, Malaga, on Spain's east coast, is known as the capital of the Costa del Sol.

This region has long been popular with holidaymakers who are drawn by the area's fantastic beaches and made the Costa del Sol one of the most visited regions in Spain.
But this town has more to offer than just seaside and sunshine! Founded around 3000 years ago, Malaga went on to become an important part of the Roman Empire as a centre for both commerce and culture before being dominated by the Moors. Several ancient Moorish monuments remain in Malaga and the surrounding region.

Rome
Rome - where do we start? It is the ultimate vacation destination. There is perhaps no other city so crammed full of history, with layer upon layer of fabulous ruins, imperial temples.not to mention Etruscan tombs, early Christian churches, medieval bell towers, Renaissance palaces and baroque basilicas.

And all of these magnificent sights lie under the extraordinary warmth and light of the Roman sun.

Genoa
Genoa is a city and a seaport in northern Italy, the capital of the Province of Genoa and of the region of Liguria.Famous as the birthplace of Christopher Columbus, Genoa remains a bustling seaport. The city's Renaissance heritage is preserved in splendid palaces overlooking the harbor.

The Old Quarter of Genoa, is especially enthralling for those who like to explore. It is best to travel on foot through the narrow streets (called carruggi) which are meticulously kept, as are the expansive palazzi (mansions) of medieval merchants which line them. Around the Palazzo Reale, many shops sell Turkish carpets and the best of silk.

Other attractions in Genoa include the Palazzo Ducale now used for exhibitions and concerts, the Via Garibaldi art gallery and the original waterfront or Porto Antico. The waterfront is also full of atmosphere and there are many bars and restaurants where one can watch the world go by. The 16th century lighthouse, the Lanterna, which rises over 120 meters (325 steps!) above the sea, can be seen 50 kilometers away, and has guided mariners to the port for 100s of years.
