Dining
Gourmet Dining, Casual Style
Dining is a true delight, a cornucopia of fresh local seafood, just-baked breads, hearty soups, exquisite entrees, sinfully delicious desserts. Everyone is served at one seating, family-style; dress is always casual. Of course, we're happy to plan for any special dietary needs, and if there's something you've got a craving for, let us know.
Kids Programs
Kids in Nature Cruises
These programs are offered on selected cruises in US school holiday periods, namely the spring break for Mexico and Hawaii cruises and the summer vacation for Alaska. Check specific sailings at time of enquiry.
Kids under 12 travel for 25% off the published fare.
The Kids in Nature, or KIN cruises, include a luxury yacht as the schoolhouse, an Expedition Leader/Naturalist as the teacher, and the wildlife-rich waters of Alaska's Inside Passage or Mexico's Sea of Cortés as the laboratory.
Activities abound for all ages: kayaking, hiking on a remote island followed by a full-scale picnic, hopping shore-to-shore by zodiac, viewing whales directly off the bow or dolphins right below, collecting shells to study, riding mountain bikes and more.
In Mexico's Sea of Cortés and in the Hawaiian Islands, warm-water activities also include swimming with sea lions (Mexico), snorkeling, windsurfing, water-skiing, sail boating, and, after dinner, checking in on the playful antics below the boat via an underwater camera. Shore side, an included burro trail ride (Mexico) will be a hit for the whole family.
With 1 crew member for every 2 guests, kids and adults alike are accompanied on a variety of personal-choice excursions while the yacht is at anchor in either destination. In a rare introduction to wilderness lifestyles, kids and the entire family will meet and interact with local residents of remote island communities.
At the end of a week of up-close adventure, the crew will present each family member with a photo disc of several hundred images to share and reminisce for years to come.
Each child under 12 will receive a Kids in Nature backpack filled with mementos of their various explorations: an achievement award signed by the President of American Safari Cruises, a marine chart signed by the Captain and Expedition Leader, a CREW tee shirt and cap, a pair of binoculars, disposable camera and a typed list of all of the flora and fauna observed during the cruise.
Far from the typical family vacation getaway, a yacht cruise provides kids a fun way to learn about nature and other cultures.
