7 Night Cruise sailing from La Paz roundtrip aboard Safari Endeavour.
Explore this World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve and visit a culturally-rich centuries-old mission town. Snorkel, kayak, and paddle board in crystalline waters. Hike ashore along cactus-clad rims. Experience pods of dolphins, view whales, and radiant sunset cruising.
Day 1 La Paz, Baja California Sur - Embarkation
Embark the Safari Endeavour. The Captain and crew welcome you aboard just in time to for a cocktail and dinner with your new mates.
Day 2 Isla Espiritu Santo
Wake up to a desert island paradise nestled in the gulf's rich ecosystem. Kick off your day with a brief orientation, and then it's all ashore for a day of play. Beachcomb along the shell-strewn shore or hike inland among exotic desert cacti; kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, and skiffing are ideal in this important marine habitat. Conditions permitting, there may be a late night snorkel under the stars.
Day 3 Los Islotes / Isla San Francisco
Heave anchor early this morning and set sail for Los Islotes-a steep rocky outcropping leaping straight from the sea. Observe a sea lion colony from the ship and skiff, or slip into a wetsuit to snorkel with agile young sea lions. Swim through a rock arch where orange fan and white fire coral sway in the current, while high overhead, sea birds perch on the cliffs. At Isla San Francisco, a guided hike takes you among a forest of the world's tallest cactus-the Cardon, or you can take to the calm waters for play.
Day 4 Bahia Agua Verde
Enjoy a lingering brunch then it's off to shore. Clear waters are bordered by sparse craggy mountains hemmed in green. Explore canyons, enjoy scenic vistas, and experience the "real Baja." Fill your day with spectacular hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddle boarding. If we're able, there may be a visit with a local ranchero. An evening BBQ makes time for music and sharing stories ashore.
Day 5 Loreto
Loreto, the first Spanish settlement on the Baja California Peninsula, was founded in 1697. A guided tour takes you through the streets and plazas of this picturesque seaside village. Shop for local art and visit its historical buildings and missions. If the gray whales have arrived near Bahia Magdalena-where they're known to migrate and calf-we'll offer an optional excursion across the peninsula where you can ride in a panga and observe them in the lagoon. Get underway for an afternoon search for whales, dolphins and flying manta rays, and an evening of stargazing.
Day 6 Whale Watching
Picturesque ledges of pink and orange bluffs and a search for marine life are on tap. With binoculars in hand, keep your eyes peeled for pods of dolphins, blue, fin, sei, orca and sperm whales as they spout and dive in the surrounding waters. Blue-footed boobies, brown pelicans, cormorants, and gulls also make this area their home and on shore you may catch a glimpse of a Costa's hummingbird or ash-throated flycatchers. Drop anchor in a hidden cove straight out of a movie set for a chance to kayak, snorkel, and beachcomb or to hike an inland sandy valley perfect for identifying animal tracks or climb a desert rim of breathtaking vistas. There's even the possibility of a post-dinner swim in a bay filled with stunning bioluminescence.
Day 7 Captain's Choice
Leave it to the Captain to uncover today's magic. Depending on the tides and sightings, you may be snorkeling in crystalline waters; skiffing alongside a pod of bottlenose dolphins; on Isla San Jose exploring the red and white mangroves by kayak and skiff; seeking endemic wildlife on an Isla Catalina hike; or stepping ashore on Isla Coyote, the gulf's only inhabited island, to visit with local fishermen. After tonight's special Farewell Dinner, your Expedition Leader recaps the journey with a slideshow of your un-cruise experiences.
Day 8 La Paz, Baja California Sur - Disembark
After breakfast we'll bid you "adios."
