Highlights of this cruise:

Valparaiso, Chile
The picturesque neighborhoods of Valparaiso extend up into the hills overlooking the busy port and the Pacific Ocean beyond. To explore the churches and architectural landmarks that make this a World Heritage site, ride the ascencors, a series of elevators that are over 100 years old.

La Serena (Coquimbo), Chile
If you're looking to steal a few tranquil moments, what better place than the city known as "The Serene One"? Its nearby pristine beaches come with powdery white sand and warm water. And Chile's second-oldest city also offers quite a collection of cultural delights. Be sure to take in the stunning colonial architecture around the Plana de Armas, and sample the region's mouthwatering seafood.

Arica, Chile
Arica is an oasis bordered by desert and fertile valleys fed by snowmelt from the Andes. Visit the Plaza Colon, Eiffel's iron Cathedral of San Marcos, and the archeology museum in the nearby Azapa Valley, which houses relics dating back to 10,000 B.C.

Lima, Peru
The cultural and economic heart of Peru, Lima once served as the seat of power for the Spanish Empire of South America. Lima is home to fine museums of archeology, art and even gold. The catacombs beneath the Church of San Francisco are a sight to behold as are the thousands of antique texts you'll find in the library of the adjoining monastery.

Manta, Ecuador
This port city affords the visitor unprecedented access to ancient Manta culture. A short jaunt from the port lies the Bahia de Manta. There you'll find the Parque Nacional Machalilla, with its cloud forest, archeological sites, and colonies of nesting seabirds.

Panama Canal (Cruising Canal)
The canal is a marvel of engineering, but the area is also a sanctuary for sloths, eagles, ocelots and toucans, thanks to a lush rainforest environment and tropical temperatures.

Colon, Panama
As the world's second largest duty-free port, Colon offers abundant shopping. It also represents the gateway to numerous sites of ecological interest, including Chagres National Park, a 3,000,000-acre rainforest preserve, and the Gamboa Rainforest Preserve, which lies within Soberania National Park.

Cartagena, Colombia
The old city of Cartagena projects the feel of a picture-perfect, Spanish colonial village, with cathedrals like Iglesia de Santo Domingo that dominate the skyline. Las Bovedas, the old military dungeons, have been converted to shops, and the string of fortresses provide the perfect vantage points from which to enjoy the harbor.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida
This port city has been called the "Venice of America" due to a comprehensive canal network where you'll find gondolas docked on the Himmarshee Canal off Las Olas Boulevard. Enjoy extensive strolling, shopping, and dining opportunities, as well as the best of sand and sun.
