Highlights of this cruise:

Liverpool
Liverpool is a major city and metropolitan borough in Merseyside, in North West England, along the eastern side of the Mersey Estuary. It is fast becoming one of Europe's most popular city break destinations. Already famous as the birthplace of The Beatles, the city's other cultural assets are justifiably touted as some of the finest in Europe. With more theatres, museums and galleries than any other UK city outside London, Liverpool's history as one of the world's great ports has left a remarkable legacy of art and architecture that gives it a distinctive look and unique atmosphere.

Liverpool is also one of the world's great sporting cities with horse racing at Aintree and Haydock, 40 golf courses - seven of which are Championship standard, including the Royals Birkdale and Lytham, not to mention Liverpool and Everton FC. So if it's Strawberry Fields, Premiership football or Europe's finest culture you're looking for, it has to be Liverpool.

Lisbon
Lisbon is the capital city of Portugal. a lively and multicultural place. Pre World War I wooden trams clank up steep gradients, past mosaic pavements and Art Nouveau cafes, and the medieval, village-like quarter of Alfama hangs below the city's castle.

Modern Lisbon has kept an easy-going pace and boasts a vibrant, cosmopolitan identity from large communities of Africans and Asians. In 1994, Lisbon was European City of Culture, while in 1998 the city hosted the last great Expo of the millennium.

There are few monuments and little art in Lisbon, largely due to the 1755 earthquake. There is one building from Portugal's golden age - the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos at Belem - that is the equal of any monument in the country. More modern developments include the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian museum complex and the Tomas Taveira's amazing postmodernist shopping centre at Amoreiras.

Portimao
Portimao is a city located in the District of Faro in the Region of Algarve on the southern coast of Portugal. It is famous for its fresh fish restaurants, grilled sardines being the most famous dish. One of the most well known beaches in the Algarve - Rocha ("Praia da Rocha"), meaning "Rocky Beach" - is very close to Portimao, and there are numerous others nearby.

Portimao is surrounded by many beautiful places to visit, such as Armacao de Pera with its small 18th century fortress or the small beach village of Alvor. Across the river is the unspoilt fishing village of Ferragudo, with the fort of St John of Arade built during the 17th and 18th centuries and which was Portimao´s primary defence against pirates.

La Coruna
Beautiful city attractions include Ciudad Vieja (Old Town), which was once protected by walls on three sides and by the sea on the other. In addition, the city offers a variety of modern museums, devoted to fine arts, science, anthropology, and even old clocks! La Coruna is a maritime city and enjoys cool, pleasant summer weather. It offers excellent beaches and superior regional cuisine, in a friendly, hospitable environment.
