Kingstown, St Vincent & The Grenadines
Kingstown is a lively port and market town on the southern coast of the island of St Vincent. Kingstown has 12 small blocks with a variety of shops and a busy dock area, which is the center of commerce for the islands. The Saturday morning market, comprising many stalls piled high with fresh fruit and vegetables, brings everyone to town.
The town's churches date back to the early 18th century and are well worth visiting. Right outside of town is the old Fort Charlotte, which sits on a hill overlooking St. Vincent Bay.It was built in 1905, and offers great views of the surrounding area and an interesting small museum. The Botanical Gardens, just a short walk from the center of town are also well worth a visit.
St. Vincent is also known for its rain forests, waterfalls and extreme topography. Many hikes are available, as well as eco tourism adventures. St. Vincent also has some of the best SCUBA diving and photography in the world. Watersports are excellent on St Vincent.
