Highlights of this cruise:
Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Fort Lauderdale lies along the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the New River, 25 miles north of Miami. Its warm tropical weather attracts many people throughout the year. For sun-worshippers, the city has six miles of beaches. There are also many recreational waterways with extensive boating facilities, access to every conceivable water sport, a variety of fascinating museums and trendy restaurants, and an array of entertainment venues.
Tortola, British Virgin Islands
Tortola - envision it. Banana, mango and palm trees swaying gently in the warm tropical breeze. Exotic steel drum music. Some of the best white-sand beaches in the British Virgin Islands. And that's just the north side of the island. On the south side, Tortola's rugged mountain roads lead to spectacular views. There's no lack of adventure here. Rent a bareboat and set sail. Grab some scuba gear and explore the wreck of the HMS Rhone or the Chikuzen. With so much to experience, what are you waiting for?
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
When the Spanish closed their colonial fort on St. Maarten in 1648, a few Dutch and French soldiers hid on the island and decided to share it. Soon after, the Netherlands and France signed a formal agreement to split St. Maarten in half, as it is today. Philipsburg displays its Dutch heritage in its architecture and landscaping. The island offers endless stretches of beach, beautiful landscapes and great shopping.
St. John's, Antigua
The first settlement on the island we now know as Antigua was not established until the 1600s, when English settlers arrived. Antigua remained a part of the British Commonwealth until its independence in 1981. Today, Antigua is a popular holiday destination, attracting tourists with its ideal climate, 366 beautiful beaches, amazing landscape and leisurely lifestyle.
St. Croix, US Virgin Islands
St. Croix, the largest of the US Virgin Islands, is a tropical dreamland complete with stunning beaches, clear aqua-blue ocean water, a small rain forest and rolling green hillsides. The Danes purchased St. Croix in the 1700s, at which time the slave trade and sugar cane fields thrived. Today, the Danish influence is still apparent in the island's architecture and language. Most of the sugar mills lie in ruins. Yet you can still get a taste of the island's history in freshly squeezed sugar cane juice or Cruzan Rum.
