18 Night Cruise sailing from Ushuaia roundtrip aboard Fram.
We invite you on this epic voyage to Antarctica via the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and South Orkneys. Enjoy the diverse wildlife, friendly faces, and haunting scenery of these South Atlantic islands as we travel to the great White Continent of Antarctica.
DAY 1 Ushuaia
Embark MS Fram from 16:00, ready to depart from the province of Tierra del Fuego shortly afterwards.
Day 2 At sea
Acquaint yourself with the ship and your fellow travellers, follow our on board lecture series or simply relax out on deck, in our wellness area or Observation lounge as we sail south.
Day 3 - 4 The Falklands
Thanks to a unique sub-Antarctic ecosystem, more than 70 animal and bird species live on these islands. The landscape is majestic, with cliffs and gentle beaches. Despite their surroundings, however, the settlements have a typical British atmosphere.
Day 5 - 6 At sea
On our way to South Georgia we will learn more about the history and the spectacular
wildlife of the island known as the Serengeti of the Southern Ocean.
Day 7 - 8 South Georgia
The alpine-peaked island of South Georgia has a variety and density of wildlife that will overwhelm even the most blase visitor. The largest King penguin colonies in the world are flanked by groups of fur and elephant seals. The history of South Georgia is evident - you will experience
long-abandoned whaling stations and the poignant highlight for many a visitor, the grave of Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton.
Day 9 At sea
En route to the South Orkneys you will start feeling the cold and crisp Antarctic air long before you get there. In the wake of the ship, you may spot the majestic, wandering albatross utilising the winds around the vessel and there's a good chance that we'll spot some whales.
Day 10 South Orkney Islands
During our annual visit to these remote and isolated islands, first discovered in 1821, we hope to make a landing.
Day 11 At sea
You set sail for the southernmost continent and en route learn more about this fascinating white land through educational lectures.
Day 12 - 16 Antarctica
When you believe you have seen it all, Antarctica will make you think again. The last untouched place on Earth, with its crisp air, icebergs and endless, white mountain ranges, this continent is dedicated to science and peace. We will concentrate on exploring the areas around the Antarctic
Sound and the South Shetland Islands where we hope to find everything from giant Weddell Sea tabular icebergs to volcanic islands and large rookeries of penguins.
The ice, wind and weather dictate life in Antarctica as well as our route. Every voyage is unique and our experienced crew will give you the experience of a lifetime. The final choice of landings will be made in the course of the voyage.
Day 17 - 18 Drake Passage
With our bow pointed north and a collection of unforgettable images and experiences in our memories, our sturdy MS Fram takes us safely back across the famous Drake Passage.
Day 19 Ushuaia
After a spectacular voyage with countless impressions, we dock at the world's southernmost town once more.
