Day 1 PORTO - EMBARKATION

Day 2 PORTO - GUIMARÃES
This morning, enjoy an excursion to Guimarães. The first capital of Portugal in the 12th-century, it was home to Portugal's first king, Don Afonso Henriques, and a 2012 European Cultural Capital. Guimarães has been referred to as the birthplace of the Portuguese nation. Dominated by Afonso Henriques' grand castle, Guimarães was recently declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its extremely well-preserved city center. You will be guided through the narrow streets of the medieval quarter, toward the beautiful main square, the Largo da Oliveira, and then on to the splendid Monastery and Church of Nossa Senhora da Oliveira, the Ducal Palace, and the 14th century Gothic Padrão do Salado. In the afternoon, return to Porto for a sightseeing tour of the city's 16th-century arcaded buildings, Baroque churches and the magnificent iron bridge built by French engineer Gustave Eiffel. You will then drive through the elegant residential section along the Atlantic coast and explore the Old City. For some modern culture, visit the Boavista area where you will find the Casa da Musica and the museum of Modern Art. This evening, mingle with your fellow passengers at the Gala Captain's Dinner. Day 3 PORTO - BITETOS - CALDAS DE AREGOS
This morning, enjoy sail away mimosas as you depart Porto for Bitetos. You will enjoy a delightful lunch at the 14th-century Alpendurada Monastery in Bitetos. Mid-afternoon, your ship departs for Caldas de Aregos, where you will overnight. (B,L,D)
Day 4 CALDAS DE AREGOS - REGUA
This morning, an excursion takes you to the historic town of Resende. Located on the slopes of the Serra do Montemuro, Resende provides beautiful views of the Douro. Afterwards, you will cruise through the Douro landscape as your ship continues to Regua. This evening, a Portuguese Folklore Show awaits you on board. The ship overnights in Regua. (B,L,D)
Day 5 REGUA - PINHÃO
This morning's excursion will take you to the Palacio de Mateus. The palace and gardens of Mateus are located in the beautiful region of Tras-os-Montes just outside the city of Vila Real. In the afternoon, depart for Pinhão. Arriving in the early evening, you will enjoy wine-tasting and dinner at Quinta Avessada. The ship overnights in Pinhão. (B,L,D)
Day 6 PINHAÕ - BARCA D'ALVA
This morning, enjoy an excursion to Lamego for a city tour. Ancient and picturesque Lamego houses one of the most important places of pilgrimage in Portugal, the Nossa Senhora dos Remedios (Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies). Lamego's attractions also include a gothic Cathedral, museum and cafes known for local specialties such as "bola de Lamego" (bread filled with smoked ham) and Raposeira or sparkling wine. In the afternoon, your ship cruises to Barca d'Alva. This evening, enjoy a Portuguese barbecue on the Sun Deck. (B,L,D)
Day 7 BARCA D'ALVA - VEGA TERRON
This morning, depart Barca d'Alva for Vega Terron. There, you will tour Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, a small fortified village perched high on a hilltop. See 16th-century walls and walk down very narrow and steep medieval streets. Appreciate the Chafariz dos Pretos, a strikingly unique fountain decorated in black faces which stoically sits in the market square. This evening, bid farewell to your fellow passengers at the Farewell Dinner. (B,L,D)
