Glide along the Russian waterways between historic St Petersburg, with its majestic architecture and gardens to Moscow, Russia's capital and home to the iconic sights of St Basil's Cathedral, the Kremlin and Red Square.

Day 1. St Petersburg
Embark your river ship before getting to know your fellow travellers at a Welcome Briefing. Afterwards, enjoy the first of many delicious meals in your ship's restaurant.

Day 2. St Petersburg Sightseeing, Peterhof Palace
Today enjoy a guided tour of St Petersburg. Founded by Peter the Great on the banks of the Neva River in 1703, St Petersburg served as Russia's capital for two centuries until the Revolution. Renamed Leningrad during the Soviet Era, the city reclaimed its traditional name in 1991. Today's city tour will take you down Nevsky Prospect, the main boulevard in St Petersburg, through Palace Square where you will see the Winter Palace and the Alexander Column. In the afternoon visit St Petersburg's spectacular imperial estate - Peterhof Palace. Nestled on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, the palace was masterminded by Peter the Great, who intended the estate to rival the famous gardens of Versailles. Your tour includes the Lower Gardens, the Grand Cascade and Samson Fountain which commemorates Russia's victory over Sweden during the Great Northern War.

Day 3. St Petersburg, Catherine Palace
Enjoy a morning excursion to Catherine's Palace and Park. Located in the nearby town of Pushkin, Catherine's Palace was the summer residence of the Russian Czars. The tour of the interior of the Cameron Galley features state rooms and dining rooms in Baroque and Neoclassical style. This evening visit the Hermitage Theatre to take in a ballet performance.

Day 4. St Petersburg, Hermitage Museum, St Isaac's Cathedral
This morning, depart by hydrofoil for a visit to the Hermitage Museum, one of the oldest and largest museums in the world. Founded by Catherine the Great, the museum is a complex of six buildings including the former Winter Palace and is home to Russia's royal art collection of more than three million works. Afterwards enjoy an afternoon visit to St Isaac's Cathedral and see the dome that dominates the skyline of St Petersburg. The church itself is an architectural marvel and was under construction for over 40 years. This evening enjoy a Welcome Reception hosted by your Captain.

Day 5. Neva River - Lake Ladoga - Svirstroy - Svir River
Today your ship cruises along the Neva River and crosses Lake Ladoga, the largest lake in Europe. On the Svir River, you will dock and learn about everyday life in Svistory and experience the Russian hospitality first hand with freshly made pastries when you visit a traditional Russian home. After your visit, enjoy a delicious barbecue lunch. Later, re-board your ship, which then continues cruising towards Lake Onega.

Day 6. Lake Onega, Kizhi Island
Situated on Lake Onega, Kizhi is home to some of the most amazing wooden architecture in Russia. On arrival here today, you'll disembark your ship and explore Kizhi Island's fascinating open-air museum of wooden architecture. Marvel at two of the few remaining original wooden churches in Russia, the Church of the Transfiguration and the Church of the Intercession. Afterwards, re-board your ship and continue towards the Volga-Baltic Waterway.

Day 7. Volga-Baltic Waterway, White Lake, Goritsy
Today your ship will cruise onto the Volga-Baltic Waterway. After crossing White Lake, dock at Goritsy, a small and peaceful farming town typical of what you could expect from many quaint villages. Your guided tour here includes a visit to the Monastery of St Cyril on the White Lake, with its Museum of Icons. After the tour, return to your ship before cruising towards Yaroslavl.

Day 8. Volga River, Yaroslavl
Founded in 1010 by Prince Yaroslavl the Wise, the Golden Ring city of Yaroslavl is located at the confluence of the Volga and the Kotorosl Rivers and is one of Russia's oldest cities. On arrival here today, you'll disembark your ship for a guided tour that includes the fortified 12th century Transfiguration Monastery and the former residence of the Governor of Yaroslavl. You will also visit the Yaroslavl Museum of Russian Art before returning to the ship.

Day 9. Volga River, Uglich, Moscow Canal
Today you'll arrive in Uglich. Founded in 1148, like all of Russia's Golden Ring cities, Uglich is a place rich in history. This tranquil country town offers picturesque sights, abundant shopping stalls and historic monuments. Here on a guided sightseeing tour visit the Church of St Dmitry on the Blood, with its tragic story of dedication to Ivan the Terrible's son. Later, return to your ship and cruise on to the Moscow Canal. This evening enjoy a special Captain's Farewell Dinner on board.

Day 10. Moscow
This afternoon's sightseeing tour of Moscow takes you to Red Square and St Basil's Cathedral. The tour also includes the famous GUM Department Store, Tverskaya Street, Sparrow Hill and Lubyanka Square, the location of the famous KGB building. The rest of the evening is yours at leisure.

Day 11. Moscow, Freedom of Choice Inclusions
Ride the Moscow Metro this morning, where each station is like a museum of mosaics, marble statues and crystal chandeliers. Delight in a lunch cruise along the Moscow River on a day boat then tonight, take an excursion to the famous Moscow Circus or perhaps enjoy a tour of Moscow By Night.

Day 12. Moscow
Today disembark and tour the Armoury Museum within the Kremlin, an historic fortified complex that was once the royal residence of the Czars. Then check in to your hotel before a Russian folklore show this evening.
