Cruise for 12 days between the vibrant cities of Moscow and St Petersburg along the Volga, Svir and Neva rivers, exploring the forested islands, vast lakes and quaint lifestyles of rural Russia.

Day 1. Arrive Moscow
Make your way to your centrally-located hotel.

Stay: Hotel Baltschug Kempinski Moscow

Day 2. Moscow, Freedom of Choice
Take in the glorious sights of Moscow on a guided tour, including the iconic St Basil's Cathedral, the GUM Department Store, as well as Lubyanka Square, location of the famous KGB building. Later, board the MS AmaKatarina, moored on the Moscow Canal. This evening, take an excursion to the world famous Moscow Circus or enjoy a tour of Moscow By Night.

Day 3. Moscow
Today ride the Moscow Metro, where each station is like an art museum. Stop at the 15th-century Arbat Street, then enjoy a lunch cruise along the Moscow River on a day boat. This evening, enjoy a Russian folklore show.

Day 4. Moscow
Take a guided tour of the Armoury Museum within the walls of the Kremlin before an afternoon at leisure in the capital. Later, re-board your ship to begin cruising along the Moscow Canal towards the Volga River.

Day 5. Moscow Canal, Volga River, Uglich
Leave Moscow today and begin cruising along the Moscow Canal to the Volga River and dock in the town of Uglich. On a guided sightseeing tour, visit the Chambers of Prince Dimitri and the Church of St Demetrios on the Blood, with its tragic story of dedication to Ivan the Terrible's son. Later, return to your ship and cruise towards Yaroslavl.

Day 6. Volga River, Yaroslavl
Today your river ship stops in another fascinating Golden Ring city, Yaroslavl, which stretches for miles along the confluence of the Volga and Kotorosl rivers. Founded by Prince Yaroslav the Wise in 1010, this is one of Russia's oldest cities, tracing its roots back to the Vikings. Here, a tour will illuminate the city's history through its glorious architecture, including a fortified 12th century monastery and the former residence of the Governor of Yaroslavl.

Day 7. Goritsy, White Lake, Volga-Baltic Waterway
Today, dock in Goritsy, a small and peaceful farming town. Your guided sightseeing tour here includes a visit to the Monastery of St Cyril on the White Lake and its Museum of Icons. Later, re-board the AmaKatarina and continue cruising onto the White Lake and the Volga-Baltic Waterway, linking the Volga River and the Baltic Sea, enroute to Lake Onega and the remarkable Kizhi Island.

Day 8. Lake Onega, Kizhi Island
Situated on Lake Onega, Kizhi is home to some of Russia's most amazing wooden architecture. Explore the open-air museum of wooden architecture and marvel at two of the few remaining original wooden churches in Russia, including the Transfiguration Church, built in 1714 without a single nail. Afterwards, return to your ship which will then cruise towards the lovely Svir River.

Day 9. Svir River, Svirstroy, Lake Ladoga
After cruising through the night, dock in the tiny village of Svirstroy located on the Svir River. Here, learn about everyday life in Svistory and experience the Russian hospitality first hand with freshly made pastries when you visit a traditional Russian home. After your visit, enjoy a delicious barbecue lunch. Later, re-board your ship, and enjoy Captains Dinner onboard while you cruise towards your last port of call, St Petersburg.

Day 10. St Petersburg
Today your ship will dock at its final port of call, St Petersburg. On a tour of Russia's second largest city see St Isaac's Cathedral, the battle-cruiser Aurora and more. This afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of the Hermitage Museum, which forms part of the Winter Palace, home to Russia's royal art collection of more than three million works.

Day 11. St Petersburg, Catherine Palace
Today, tour the lavish Catherine Palace and grounds. Constructed in the 18th century as a summer palace for the Empress it has become famous for its blue, white and gold facade. Tonight, enjoy a spectacular Ballet Performance at the world famous Hermitage Theatre. Catherine the Great ordered the theatre to be built in 1783. It has since gone on to become one of the most renowned theatres in the world.

Day 12. St Petersburg, Peterhof Palace
This morning, take an exhilarating Hydrofoil ride over the waters of the Neva River to St Petersburg's spectacular imperial estate - Peterhof Palace, nestled on the shores of the Gulf of Finland. Your tour will take you to the Lower Gardens, the Grand Cascade and Samson Fountain, commemorating Russia's victory over Sweden during the Great Northern War. The church itself is an architectural marvel and was under construction for over 40 years. Following lunch on board, join a tour to St Isaac's Cathedral and see the dome that dominates the skyline of St Petersburg. Day 13. Disembark Ship, Depart St Petersburg
After breakfast this morning, your time aboard the MS AmaKatarina draws to an end as you disembark your ship.
